Over US$150,000 in awards at the Open Golf in Dominican Republic
For the third time Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf), will host the Professional Golf Open tournament, in its fifth edition, this event will be supported by PGA Tour Latinoamerica, which will be held in the majestic links Casa de Campo, La Romana .
Fedogolf President, John Cohen, said the competition will be held on the 12th to 18th May 2014 and that it will be an estimated of $150,000 dollars in prizes.
He also said that alongside the traditional and golfing tournament will be held on III Ceremonial Hall of Fame Golf Dominicano, and that it will be dedicated to the resort of Casa de Campo.
“This is a Dream Team from Fedogolf -PGA Tour- House, which has been taking shape and strength in recent years,” said Cohen.
Cohen also said that, “we expect the best tournament in Latin America throughout the 2014, due to the existing facilities for golf in Dominican Republic.”
During a press conference held in the halls of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), the president of the PGA Latin America, Jack Warfield, thanked the reception given to the courses in the country and added that ” we are excited to sponsor the Fedogolf and that the DR Open PGA Golf Tour is part of Latin America. ”

Luisín Mejia COD spokesman, expressed his joy at having an authority of the PGA Tour in Dominican Republic as Jack Warfield. “A good investment in sport is still a big difference in the nation,” said Mejia.
Peter Bonell, CMO of House, said “it is a great honor for the hotel consortium to host the Open Golf Dominican Republic, which is one of the stops on the PGA Tour Latin America , for next year.”
